DERISKING TABLES
Derisking tables can assist policymakers to systematically identify and target investment risks in a particular technology sector. Each derisking table sets out a structured taxonomy of investment risks, underlying barriers, related stakeholder groups, and matching policy derisking and financial derisking instruments.
The following derisking tables are available for download (top right-hand corner of this page):
- Utility-Scale Renewable Energy (PDF) (Version 3.0, Jul 2017)
- On-Grid Rooftop PV (PDF) (Version 3.1, Nov 2017)
- Off-Grid, Solar PV-Battery Mini-Grids (PDF) (Version 3.2, Jun 2018)
- Off-Grid, Solar Home Systems (PDF) (Version 3.1, Nov 2017)
LEVELISED COST FINANCIAL MODELS
DREI’s levelised cost financial models are user-friendly, automated Excel tools that calculate life-cycle per unit costs for private sector energy investments, in a particular technology sector. The user inputs a number of key input assumptions, and then the tool automatically generates various outputs.
The following tools are available for download (top right-hand corner of this page):
- Utility-Scale Renewable Energy (Excel) (Version 2.1, May 2018)
- On-Grid Rooftop PV (Excel) [Forthcoming]
- Off-Grid, Solar PV-Battery Mini-Grids (Excel) [Forthcoming]
- Off-Grid, Solar Home Systems (Excel) [Forthcoming]
‘SIDE-BY-SIDE’ CHARTS
DREI’s side-by-side charts compare the disaggregated levelised costs of renewable energy vs. conventional energy investments, in a high-cost and low-cost financing cost environment. The charts demonstrate how renewable energy investments are penalized in relation to convention energy in high-cost financing environments, due to renewable energy’s high capital intensity. The DREI team updates these charts on an annual basis.
