2024 Annual Report: Regional Programme for Europe and Central Asia
April 9, 2025
The 2024 Annual Report presents the work and results of UNDP’s Regional Programme for Europe and Central Asia (ECA), covering 18 countries and territories. The Regional Programme is fully aligned to UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-2025. It serves as UNDP’s framework for supporting countries and partners in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Regional Programme operates within and continuously adapts to the evolving and complex geopolitical, security, social, economic, and environmental landscape. As the UN’s leading agency for human development, UNDP is committed to agility and innovation, drawing on its deep and diverse expertise to help countries, territories, and communities build resilience, respond to crises, recover, and thrive - ensuring no one is left behind.
The Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH), part of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS (RBEC) leads the implementation of the Regional Programme through a combination of advisory services, regional projects and initiatives (often co-led by country o ces), and regional flagship events and policy work that, in some cases, have a global reach. Hosted by the Government of Türkiye, IRH benefits from flexible and catalytic funding from its host, enabling it to address emerging development priorities across the region. The programme also draws support from a diverse range of donors and partners, including the European Union (EU), United States of America, Slovakia, Finland, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Japan, the Russian Federation, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Adaptation Fund (AF), and International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), along with private sector partners like Samsung.
