Overview
Adequate and quality funding is essential for the UN development system to work as one and effectively support the 2030 Agenda.
In order to achieve our mandate, UNDP relies entirely on voluntary contributions from UN Member States, multilateral organizations, private sector and other sources, in the form of unrestricted regular resources (core), and contributions earmarked for a specific theme, programme or project.
Development is a long-term process that requires a clear strategic focus and the ability to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities. Flexible resources allow UNDP to enable coordinated and rapid responses to development needs and emergencies; provide multi-sectoral responses; enhance thought leadership, innovation and quality assurance; and support countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
