The Government of Belgium has contributed  EUR 9.5 million to UNDP's regular 'core' resources. UNDP thanks Belgium for its support and commitment to flexible funding, enshrined in the UNDP-Belgium multi-year core agreement (2021-2024). This commitment is critical to UNDP's efforts to help improve the lives of millions of people and deliver transformative, innovative and integrated development solutions.  

Now more than ever, investment in core resources is vital for UNDP’s ability to deliver urgent support in countries around the world, notably in Africa's Least Developed Countries and in crisis settings. Core resources also enable UNDP to uphold the principal of ‘leave no one behind’, especially women and girls who are particularly vulnerable during conflicts and crises. These funds also provide the foundation to implement flagship programmes such as the Sustainable Finance Hub, the Climate Promise, the Crisis Offer, and the Gender Strategy 2022-2025 in line with the UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-2025 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.  

Core resources help to strengthen UNDP's oversight and accountability functions and to continue delivering support effectively and in line with the highest standards of transparency and accountability. This commitment bears fruit, with UNDP consistently rated among the most transparent international organizations.  

UNDP is committed to strengthening its partnership with Belgium to support countries in their efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
