The Reflections series synthesizes lessons from past evaluations to support organizational learning about what works and what doesn't. This paper examines past evaluations to provide six lessons on masculinities and engaging men for gender equality:

2. Beyond the individual level
3. Ensuring gender-transformative results
4. Peer groups and role models
5. Fatherhood
6. Faith-based organizations

Development of this paper leveraged a combination of AI-led searches in the UNDP AIDA (Artificial Intelligence for Development Analytics) tool and human-led analysis. This paper is based on 58 evaluations and case studies issued by UNDP, UN Women and UNFPA, and used a further 19 research papers and reports. It might not reflect recent developments not captured in evaluations.
