Food and Agricultural Commodity Systems (FACS) are fundamental to the sustainable development of the 170 countries UNDP supports. FACS are often the largest contributor to their economies; food and nutrition is fundamental for citizen health; and FACS have a key role to play in achieving the SDGs.
We focus on countries where shifting the production of food and agricultural commodities towards sustainability has the potential to address rural poverty and reduce the negative effects that food production is having on local and global environments.
UNDP has, with partners, initiated and led a range of global initiatives aiming to transform Food and Agricultural Commodity Systems, and operates as a core partner in global alliances.
Transformation requires that all stakeholders come together to find solutions. It also requires effective tools to facilitate change, and UNDP has developed a set of powerful, strategic and innovative tools in line with our mission.
Bringing technical expertise in 170 countries, UNDP FACS plays a key role on the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals. Learn more about FACS' contribution to UNDP's work and mission.
