The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is pleased to participate in the Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC 2024), co-hosted by Switzerland and Ukraine on October 17–18, 2024, in Lausanne, Switzerland. This pivotal event brings together high-level representatives from governments, international organizations, the private sector, civil society, and academia to address the critical importance of mine clearance as a central component of rebuilding society and the economy in conflict affected countries.

Special Feature: “Defining Futures” Photo Exhibition by Giles Duley

As part of the conference, UNDP will present “Defining Futures,” a powerful photo exhibition by renowned British photographer Giles Duley, the United Nations Global Advocate for persons with disabilities in conflict and peacebuilding situations.

Initially presented in Kyiv in April 2024, this exhibition features 15 portraits and stories highlighting the lived experiences of landmine and unexploded ordnance contamination in Ukraine. The exhibition underscores UNDP’s work with mine action in Ukraine, focusing on living with disabilities and various mine action activities.

Access: The physical exhibition is exclusively accessible to conference participants during UMAC 2024.

Online Viewing: The exhibition can also be explored online at Defining Futures Exhibition.
