An Integrated Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan describes the strategic development of sustainable mobility in the City of Batumi for the next decade. It is designed to satisfy the mobility needs of people and businesses for a better quality of life.
The plan lays out a vision for the city, prioritizes transport system improvements, clarifies the respective responsibilities of different stakeholders, and identifies a robust financing plan. It aims to create an urban transport system by addressing the following objectives:
- Ensure all citizens are offered transport options that enable access to key destinations and services.
- Improve safety and security.
- Reduce air and noise pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.
- Improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the transportation of persons and goods.
- Contribute to enhancing the attractiveness and quality of the urban environment and urban design for the benefits of citizens, the economy and society.
The Integrated Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Batumi City is prepared by the company A+S Consult GmbH with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Global Environment Facility (GEF), Batumi City Hall and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia.
