UNDP Ghana

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. In Ghana, working across the 16 regions, UNDP focuses its development interventions in three interconnected areas. These are environment and climate change, inclusive development, and governance and peace building.
In order to achieve its mandate, UNDP relies entirely on voluntary contributions from UN Member States, multilateral organizations, private sector and other sources, in the form of unrestricted regular resources (core), and contributions earmarked for a specific theme, programme or project.
Accountability is the obligation to demonstrate that work has been conducted in accordance with agreed rules and standards and report fairly and accurately on performance results vis-à-vis mandated roles and/or plans.
The UNDP Resident Representative in Ghana is supported by a Deputy Resident Representative. Together with the Economic Advisor, Cluster Team Leaders, Operations Manager, the Gender Team Lead, and the Communications and Partnership Team Lead, these form the senior management team of UNDP Ghana. UNDP works in close collaboration with the Government of Ghana by retaining its core strategic partnerships with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Commissions and Development Authorities. Additionally, the Ghana Country Office collaborates with other UN Agencies in the context of Delivering as One (DaO) and strengthens its existing partnerships with bilateral and multilateral donors. UNDP Ghana also works with Civil Society Organizations (for advocacy and accountability), academia (for quality data gathering, identification of innovative solutions, knowledge production and dissemination), private sector (for incubation of innovative solutions, alternative sources of resources and green jobs creation) and the media (for information dissemination.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
