On June 22, the MIND Accelerator and key stakeholders of the Akmola region convened in a meeting organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kazakhstan, within the framework of the project to establish a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Platform for Central Asia, funded by the European Union (EU). The Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and Maqsut Narikbayev University supported the event.

The meeting discussed the MIND Accelerator teams' project initiatives with representatives from the business sector, government, and local community. The goal was to foster dialogue and integrate the local community into sustainable development efforts.

During his welcoming speech, Sukhrob Khojimatov, Deputy Resident Representative at UNDP Kazakhstan, emphasized the significance of a systematic approach in working with SDG accelerators. He stated, "The primary advantage of working with SDG accelerators is the use of a systematic approach and the ability to pilot transformational changes to achieve the SDGs."

Sukhrob Khojimatov also outlined the key areas of UNDP's work in Kazakhstan, which include skills for employment (SDG 4), reducing inequalities (SDG 10), renewable energy sources (SDG 7), and sustainable production and food systems (SDG 2). He stressed that sustainable SDG progress is achievable through effective management, adequate financing, individual and collective action, innovation, and partnerships.

These projects focus on reducing corruption and increasing transparency in governance, underscoring the commitment to clean and open public policy.

Representatives from various groups and organizations, such as the leadership of the Akmola region, UNDP, businesses, non-governmental associations, and regional development institutions, attended the meeting. The event facilitated an exchange of views, suggestions for improving regional programs, and the establishment of new contacts for future collaboration.

The SDG Platform for Central Asia, funded by the EU, also works towards localizing the SDGs. This involves collaborating with the Parliament of Kazakhstan and other key partners to integrate the SDGs into national and regional development plans. Additionally, training and methodological materials for local authorities were developed through ongoing consultations.
