The Readiness Project addresses the urgent need to build resilience to climate change impacts. Recognizing Following the call to action by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Government is supporting the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes to integrate climate change adaptation into policies, particularly in the areas of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) implementation and decarbonization.

The Project aims to establish clear mandates, coordination mechanisms, and standard procedures for climate adaptation at both national and subnational levels in four priority sectors:

• Agriculture,
• Forestry,
• Water resource management,
• Emergencies.

The Project is designed to equip decision-makers with climate services that provide a comprehensive understanding of the impacts of climate change and adaptation options. It also aims to build the capacity of sector-specific experts to incorporate climate risks into standard planning and budgeting procedures.

Project Objectives:

• Improving governance and institutional coordination,
• Developing evidence for impactful effective adaptation solutions,
• Catalyzing private sector engagement and increasing financing for adaptation finance.

Emphasis will be placed on utilizing existing planning and budgeting processes for sustainable funding.
