Did you know that police dogs are referred to as 'K9' because this two-character compound sounds identical to 'canine,' which derives from the Latin 'canis' for dog? The benefit of using K9 is that it takes fewer letters to spell it, therefore it’s quicker to recognize on a uniform, dog vest, or side of a vehicle.
Next comes a more puzzling question: can you find a connection between a K9 dog and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? The link is not as clear-cut as the one above, but it is worth exploring. We'll use as an example the K9 dogs of Kosovo Police, the only law enforcement agency in the Western Balkans to possess dogs that are capable of sniffing and detecting new weapons, uncontaminated with test firing and made from polymer.
