By-Elections in Tripoli: A call center to support the citizens
May 13, 2019
Aiming to support the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities (MoIM), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Lebanese Elections Assistance Project (LEAP), funded by the European Union Delegation to Lebanon, established and facilitated the electoral hotline center at the premises of the ministry to receive calls from the Lebanese citizens: voters, candidates, observers and polling officials.
In support to the MoIM’s Operations’ Room, eight UNDP hotline operators provided the callers with support, information and clarifications during the pre-electoral period and throughout the electoral day. The center received a total of 173 calls, where 83% of them were general inquiries, 7% reported on missing items, 3% complains about irregularities and 7% were on security issues.
The vast majority of the calls were received from polling officials (91%) while the other calls were made by voters, candidates, observers or media.
