Highlights
- Liberia harbors significant biodiversity, including over 2,000 flowering plant (225 of which are timber), 600 bird, 150 mammals and 75 reptiles species
- The improved bee-keeping practices promoted by WAIOL have helped to rejuvenate and protect the wild bee population.
- Women in particular have benefitted from WAIOL’s activities, outnumbering men in their participation in the initiative.
- The Equator Initiative brings together the United Nations, governments, civil society, businesses and grassroots organizations to recognize and advance local sustainable development solutions for people, nature and resilient communities.
