Liberia Agenda for Transformation
Liberia Agenda for Transformation
November 5, 2013
The AfT sets out precise goals and objectives that Liberia will achieve in the next five years in order to take the necessary steps toward its long-term goals, which are to become a more prosperous and inclusive society. This AfT is consistent with the principles of the Paris Declaration, Accra Agenda for Action and the New Deal for Engagement in Fragile States.
Highlights
- Today, Liberia is at a crossroads, moving from the emergency and stabilizing phase associated with the protracted civil conflict that destroyed the country into one of sustainable development.
- Since 2006, the Government of Liberia has stabilized the political situation, while putting the economy back on track with considerable assistance from development partners, however, the challenges remain daunting.
- The success of the AfT will entail making hard choices and taking deliberate and bold steps to ensure that resources are directed towards priority areas and intervention.
- The goal is to put the country on a path of sustainable and equitable growth and to create the right environment as Liberia transforms toward its long-term vision of becoming a more equal, just, secure and prosperous society.
