Building Resilience: A Multisectoral Response to COVID-19 UNDP and Japan Partnership in Mauritius (2020-2023)

November 18, 2024

This report is intended to celebrate and provide an account of the Japan- UNDP partnership from 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, to December 2023. The United Nations in Mauritius, under the leadership of the Resident Coordinator and in response to the guidance from the UN Secretary General, developed a cross sectoral socioeconomic response plan to assist in preparedness and recovery. The UNDP served as the technical lead for the UN response, and within this context leveraged our existing partnership with the Government of Japan to rollout a Prevention, Response, and Early Recovery Project (PREP), which was funded by the Japan Supplementary Budget and executed by the UNDP.
