The Moldova National Bureau of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), created with the support of UNDP Moldova, has doubled its membership. The board of the group convened in a meeting on November 29 to approve the membership applications filed by nine MPs.

The new members of the group are: Elena Bacalu, PDM, interim Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Administration, Elena Bodnarenco, PCRM, Maria Ciobanu, PLDM, Alla Dolință, PSRM, Anatolie Gorilă, PDM, Adrian Lebedinschi, PSRM, Radu Mudreac, PSRM, Chair of the Committee on the Environment and Regional Development, Igor Vremea, PDM, Anatolie Zagorodnii, PDM, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Legal Issues, Appointments and Immunities.

After the accession of 9 new members, GOPAC Moldova group brings together 18 current and former members in Parliament, representatives of all parliamentary groups, including 4 Chairs, 2 Deputy Chairs and 2 Secretaries of Parliamentary Committees. The group also includes Liliana Palihovici, former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and the current head of the Audit Chamber, Veaceslav Untilă. Members of GOPAC Moldova aim to promote a culture of zero tolerance towards corruption by holding public discussions, providing expertise and analysis and taking stand to eliminate this scourge from the public sphere and the society as a whole.

The Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption is an international network of parliamentarians dedicated to good governance and the fight against corruption around the world. The GOPAC Moldova National Bureau was established on July 12, 2016. Thus, Moldova became part of the network of more than 60 national GOPAC offices worldwide. GOPAC Moldova was established with the support of UNDP within the framework of the project "Strengthening Parliamentary Governance in Moldova" implemented with the financial support of the Government of Sweden.
