Entrepreneurs from 20 villages received grant certificates for developing businesses in rural area within an official ceremony in Carpineni, Hincesti. The event also included an exhibition of their products, under the title „Homemade business”.
„It is difficult to be an entrepreneur in Moldova, especially in rural areas, where the conditions are tough and economic environment is less attractive. Nevertheless, together with colleagues from JILDP programme we were happy to find out that young people, aged 24-35, are motivated to create businesses in Moldova and showed that they are small entrepreneurs with serious plans. Also, mayors have to understand that small businesses enhance local economic development and they have to offer them all the necessary support”, said Sergiu Ceaus, the Deputy General Secretary of the State Chancellery.
Over 230 entrepreneurs from Moldova benefited of business training within the economic component of the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme. More than 80 of them submitted business plans within a grant competition in order to receive funds to develop their business. 21 entrepreneurs were selected and received grant certificates of 5000 USD. Also, the Programme will provide additional assistance during six months to support business plan implementation.
„Small businesses are a great force, able to grow Moldova and they can ensure affordable, good quality services and job creation. The number of those wishing to benefit from training was surprisingly high. This means that entrepreneurs in Moldova know that knowledge is their most important capital. UNDP Moldova expresses its willingness to support local business in Moldova”, said Narine Sahakyan, Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP Moldova.
