Holidays will get soon a completely different meaning for more than 2,000 inhabitants of Rascov village, from the left bank of the Nistru River. The European Union finances the renovation of the local cultural facility. The refurbishment work is carried out within the EU funded „Support to Confidence Building” Programme, implemented by UNDP Moldova.
Now the works are in full swing. The EU funded project provides support with over 200,000 euros for the replacement of the roof and windows, and the refurbishment of the great hall. The building is being equipped with special ramps and will be accessible for people with disabilities. The Government of Poland funded the refurbishment works with over 20,000 euros.
Locals asked for the renovation of the cultural facilities. "A village like Rascov, with unique historical and natural sights, should have a Cultural Hall where you can welcome guests from other cities or from abroad" noted the village inhabitants.

At the beginning of 2017, cultural events, roundtables, seminars, and other activities are expected to be held in the premises, benefiting from the improved conditions. The Cultural Hall will become again one of the main attractions of the village, in addition to the natural or historical ones. Many tourists and visitors from abroad come to Rascov village, especially from Poland or Israel, as over the centuries the village was populated by Polish and Jewish people.
The managers of the premises plan to hold a yearly festival, entitled "We are from Rascov", when the refurbishment works will be finalized. The event will host artists from Slobozia-Rascov (left bank) and Vadul-Rascov from the right bank of the Nistru River, and also from abroad.
Through the UNDP implemented “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Programme, the European Union finances the refurbishment of 30 social infrastructure buildings on both banks of the Nistru River: cultural and health facilities, schools, kindergartens and others.
