Switzerland and the United Kingdom, together with UNDP, are launching a project that will support trust and cooperation in emergency healthcare between the two banks of the Nistru. With a budget of US$1.8 million, the concept of a model emergency unit on the left bank of the Nistru will be developed and piloted.
In the town of Slobozia on the left bank of the Nistru, the necessary infrastructure for a modern emergency medical unit will be created. Two ambulances will be purchased, which will serve people in need.
The emergency unit will be built according to international and national standards in the field of healthcare. The emergency unit's services and facilities will be designed to be accessible to all, including people with disabilities.
Thanks to knowledge transfer and cooperation, to be facilitated by the project, medical staff on the left bank will be better prepared to provide emergency medical services according to the latest standards.
At the same time, a model of continuous training for medical staff will be developed, involving cooperation between the Emergency Healthcare Training Center in Chișinău and the Medical Emergency Simulation Center in Tiraspol. Following theoretical and practical training, medical staff from the left bank of the Nistru will be able to respond promptly and efficiently to different healthcare needs of men, women, children, older people and people with disabilities.
Previously, health projects have also been carried out, which have contributed to the development of quality medical services on the left bank of the Nistru, through training, provision of equipment and consumables, especially in the field of mother and child healthcare and immunizations.
