Project Summary:

The strategic goal of this project is to achieve an enhanced environment of trust and cooperation across right and left bank of the Nistru through joint work on improving the living standards of men and women from the left bank, via safer and more equitable access to emergency healthcare services. 

Objectives:

  • To enhance the capacities of the medical personnel from the left bank to follow the updated protocols and methodologies due to the knowledge transfer and enhanced cross-river exchange;
  • To improve the emergency healthcare protocols and methodologies from the left bank, harmonized with the international standards as a result of collaborative work;
  • To improve critical infrastructure and updated equipment based on good practices from the right bank contribute to better emergency healthcare services on the left bank.

Expected results:

  • Assessment in terms of capacity development of the medical personnel from the left bank;  
  • Capacity development training seminars for the medical personnel;
  • Enhancement of cross river cooperation and exchange of experience;
  • Mapping and assessment of the existing emergency healthcare protocols on the left bank that are not in compliance with the Moldovan and international standards;
  • Development of a Roadmap for the development of the Emergency health care service on the left bank;
  • Promoting, through advocacy, the update of the policies, regulations and protocols;
  • Pilot a model emergency unit;
  • Procurement of up to two ambulances that will serve the ones in need and will be part of the “model emergency unit concept”;
  • Procurement of equipment for ambulances, emergency units, and for the call center.

Accomplishments:

  • The Thematic Cross-river Health Platform, created within EU-Confidence Building Measures Programme, facilitated the creation of one specialized joint working group, with experts from both banks in the area of emergency healthcare;
  • 49 healthcare specialists have improved capacities in line with the latest methodologies in emergency healthcare within three trainings  in the area of basic life support and basic emergency care;
  • The design for the full reconstruction of the Slobozia Emergency Healthcare substation has been finalized, with contributions from the left bank. The goal is to complete the reconstruction by 2026.
