Ulaanbaatar, 10 April 2025 — UNDP in Mongolia has been awarded the Outstanding Evaluation Award in the 2025 UNDP Evaluation Excellence Awards for the Mid-term Evaluation of the ADAPT Project, funded by the Green Climate Fund(link is external) and implemented in close partnership with the Government of Mongolia.

This global recognition, awarded by UNDP’s Independent Evaluation Office, acknowledges evaluations that uphold the highest standards of quality, transparency, and impact since 2020. The ADAPT project—formally titled “Improving Adaptive Capacity and Risk Management of Rural Communities in Mongolia”—aims to build resilience in some of the most climate-vulnerable communities across the four provinces of Mongolia.

The Independent Evaluation assessed the project on broad spectrums including the project’s relevance to national and UNDP priorities, effectiveness in delivering expected results, efficiency of implementation and adaptive management, sustainability of outcomes beyond the project’s duration, and the integration of gender equity, particularly how climate impacts affect men and women differently.

UNDP Resident Representative in Mongolia, Ms. Matilda Dimovska, “This award reflects our shared commitment to transparency, learning, and accountability,” said Ms. Matilda Dimovska, UNDP Resident Representative in Mongolia. “The resulting recommendations have not only helped us shape the next phase of ADAPT but have also informed our wider programming.”

“We are pleased to see that the quality of ADAPT project work has been recognized globally at UNDP,” said Mr. Urtnasan Tsetsegmaa, State Secretary for the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. “Evaluations like this strengthen our ability to scale what works and correct course where needed, ensuring long-term impact for our people.”

UNDP Mongolia expresses deep appreciation to its evaluation team and partners for their support in advancing climate resilience and sustainable development across the country.
