Podgorica, 24 February 2025. - More than twenty representatives from the Ministry of Public Administration participated in a training session today on integrating gender equality into public administration, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This training is part of the "United in Gender Equality" project which aims to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Montenegro to promote gender equality and apply a gender-responsive approach in policy-making, as well as in the strategic and legislative framework. The project is implemented by the UNDP in partnership with the Government of Montenegro and is funded by the European Union.

Through practical exercises and the exchange of best practices, participants deepened their understanding of how gender equality can be effectively incorporated into public administration, ensuring that policies and programs reflect the needs and perspectives of all citizens.

Participants analyzed the current state of gender equality across different sectors, identifying challenges and key steps for reducing gender gaps. The training emphasized the importance of gender-responsive governance by equipping public administration employees with the skills and knowledge necessary to advocate for equality within their respective competencies.

During the training, it was highlighted that integrating gender equality into public administration processes is not only a matter of fairness but also a key factor in improving the efficiency and quality of services provided by the public sector. The need for continuous education and capacity-building was emphasized to ensure that the gender perspective becomes an integral part of all institutional processes and policies.

This training represents another important step in strengthening the capacities of public institutions to recognize and reduce gender inequalities and enhance equal opportunities. As part of ongoing capacity-building efforts, this initiative reflects a lasting commitment to enhancing the ability of public administration to develop and implement gender-responsive policies.

When human rights and gender equality are at the core of policies, societies progress, and democracy becomes more stable. It is the responsibility of everyone in public administration to further integrate these values into institutions, bringing Montenegro closer to a reality where gender equality is not just an aspiration but a part of everyday life.
