New York - The Federal Republic of Germany has contributed EUR 82 million in regular (core) resources to UNDP for 2023, an increase of 14% compared to 2022. UNDP thanks Germany for being a consistent top core donor at a time when the overall volume of core resources and the number of governments providing core funding are systematically decreasing. 

UNDP remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Germany in common priority areas. These include stabilization, conflict prevention and early recovery, addressing root causes of displacement, decent work, digitalization, supporting innovation through the Accelerator Labs network, development finance, just (green) transition and climate action. Flexible and predictable core resources are critical for UNDP's ability to anticipate shocks and react rapidly and with agility to crises and natural disasters when they unfold. UNDP remains committed to tackling the ripple effects of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine while continuing efforts to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  

Germany's core funding contribution also supports the implementation of UNDP's Strategic Plan 2022-2025, which is fully aligned with the 2030 Agenda. These resources are also vital for UNDP to continue delivering effectively, efficiently, and in line with the highest standards of transparency and accountability. This is evident with UNDP being consistently rated among the most transparent international organizations. 

Germany is an indispensable partner to UNDP and the UN Development System. This year, as Germany celebrates the 50th anniversary of its membership in the United Nations, the increase in funding for UN organizations such as UNDP is a strong sign that Germany is continuing and expanding its trust and commitment to shore-up multilateralism. 

UNDP looks forward to continuing working with Germany and advocating for accelerated action at pivotal moments on the SDG agenda, such as the ongoing SDG Summit, the Conference of Parties (COP28) on climate change in November, and the Summit of the Future in 2024.
