The United Kingdom contributes to UNDP resources to support global sustainable development initiatives
December 19, 2024
New York—The Government of the United Kingdom has contributed GBP11 million (approximately USD 13.9 million) in core resources to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for 2024. This critical support enables UNDP to continue its efforts in advancing sustainable development across 170 countries and territories, and ensures that vital resources are directed to where they are most needed.
With this financial support, UNDP will enhance its efforts to tackle pressing global issues such as the climate and nature crisis, poverty alleviation, and strengthening governance. As the world faces significant challenges, including conflicts and disasters, this funding is crucial to save lives, protect livelihoods, and maintain developmental progress.
This important contribution will also strengthen UNDP's initiatives to ensure that no one is left behind while upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability. UNDP consistently receives recognition as one of the most transparent international organizations, a distinction made possible by ongoing support through its core resources provided by partners like the United Kingdom.
As UNDP develops its next Strategic Plan, it looks forward to continued collaboration with the United Kingdom to deliver meaningful developmental impact for communities across the globe. Together, we can work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring a better future for both people and the planet.
