The U.S. Government and UNDP have provided the National Institute of Justice (NJI) with a lot of IT equipment and components meant for the modernization of the competency-based training process for future generations of legal professionals. The donation is part of the project "Reinforcing the National Capacities to Provide Efficient Skills-Based Training for Legal Professionals", implemented by UNDP and funded by the U.S. Government.
The assistance provided will enable the access to offline or online IT tools and resources necessary for the institution to successfully conduct its activities. With the support of the project, the necessary configuration/installation works have been carried out, which will ensure a better management of the IT network within the institution. The value of the equipment donated and works performed is US$42,500.
Considering the continuous improvement and progress of technologies and the need for constant improvement of legal professional training in the Republic of Moldova, the NIJ needs to keep up with the trends and strengthen its technological capabilities. At the same time, the pandemic crisis has further highlighted the importance of expanding the NIJ's digital solutions, which will ensure continuity of work and training in crisis situations.
Under a long-standing partnership, UNDP and the U.S. Government are supporting the National Institute of Justice in modernizing the professional training of future judges and prosecutors by introducing e-tools for admission and graduation, drafting methodologies, strengthening institutional capacities, and improving infrastructure, all focused on creating an enabling environment for practical skills-based training.
The National Institute of Justice plays the central role in training judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Moldova. Through its activity, the NIJ can directly influence the quality of judicial acts, the reform of the justice system and, ultimately, the trust of people in justice institutions and processes.
