Connie Britton
As Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since 2014, American actor Connie Britton is helping lend visibility and mobilize support for UNDP's efforts to fight poverty and end all forms of inequality with a particular focus on gender equality.
Having witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by millions of people living in poverty around the world, Britton was particularly moved by the disproportionate impact of poverty and inequality on women and girls. During her visit to Kenya and Rwanda as UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, Britton saw how investing in gender equality programs can make a real and lasting difference in the lives of women and girls.
In 2015, Britton joined UNDP on the Social Good Summit stage in New York City to mark the launch of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Also known as the Global Goals, the SDGs are a blueprint for a healthy planet without poverty or inequality.
Britton has continued to be a staunch advocate for the Global Goals through her work with UNDP, Project Everyone, Global Citizen, ONE, and beyond. In 2023, as the world reached the halfway mark to the 2030 deadline to achieve the Goals, Britton joined the UN Secretary-General’s SDG Circle of Supporters to call for urgent action.
Throughout her career, Britton has devoted much of her time, energy, and passion to a wide range of social causes globally. As UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, she leverages her platform and influence to advocate for women’s equality initiatives, including through high-profile media appearances on ABC’s Good Morning America, CNBC, CNN, and many others.
