Babaeva Takhmina is the founder of a prunes drying workshop in the city of Kerben, Jalal-Abad region. She began the construction of a new production facility in 2021 assisted by the food security experts of UNDP.

After thorough needs assessment of the facility, Takhmina purchased a solar heat pump dryer, metal tables, 3-section sinks and food grade metal carts for a total cost of $13,050.

IE Babaeva Takhmina now provides its services to residents of the Aksy and Ala-Buka districts, and thanks to improved equipment and drying conditions, in 2021 the company signed a contract for the supply of 19 tons of prunes with a company from Uzbekistan.

Support for the facility was provided within the project “Aid for Trade in Central Asia”, funded by the MFA Finland and implemented by UNDP Kyrgyzstan.

PE “Subankulov” produces a premium class product “Prunes in chocolate” and is located in Aksy district, Jalal-Abad region. The owner, Timur Subankulov, used to produce dried prunes, however due to late frosts and droughts he decided to go with the production of prunes in chocolate. The production of this new product will increase Timur’s income because it is niche high value added product that will not require him to rely heavily on big production volume.

With UNDP’s support, Timur has developed technology of the product and was able to purchase a chocolate tempering machine for the amount of $5530. Now PE “Subankulov” produces premium class product “Prunes in Chocolate” using Belgian chocolate and local prunes.

LLC “Manyz KG” is one of the leading companies which process and export eco and natural honey, as well as walnut in south Kyrgyzstan. The company was founded in 2015 by Shukhrat Saidakbarov in Suzak district of Jalal-Abad oblast.

The workshop carries out a full chain of production – walnut collection, washing, cracking, drying, mixing it with honey and packaging it under Kyrgyztan’s brand. Under the project of UNDP, the company participated in B2B meetings, international exhibitions and expands its product line.

With the support of UNDP, LLC “Manyz KG” enhanced its infrastructure in line with ISO 22000 and “Organic” standards and purchased a pump-dispenser for packing honey for the amount of $4,000.

Currently LLC “Manyz KG” sells its products to Germany, Russian Federation, China and UAE, supporting Kyrgyzstan’s export potential and employing residents of Tash-Bulak village.
