March 12, 2020, DUSHANBE – Today the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Tajikistan handed over equipment and training materials to the Slavonic cultural and educational center in Dushanbe.
The initiative is aimed at providing quality education and providing development opportunities for both young people and the older generation, especially for vulnerable people with no access to quality education. The center is equipped with modern furniture, computers, musical instruments, sports equipment, and a library of modern and classical literature.
It is also equipped with mini-express laboratories, tablet computers for coworking, kits for basic robotics, digital and controlled video cameras, a multimedia podium for presentations, interactive panels with Full HD resolution, training kits for environmental research and practical work on natural science, and much more. Courses on a range of subjects, including rhetorics, drawing, robotics, cultural studies, natural sciences, and others will be organized for visitors of all ages.
UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan highlighted the role of the organization in promoting innovative solutions to empower people through knowledge sharing and creating learning and interaction platforms.
The contribution of the Russian Federation to the development of the Republic of Tajikistan through projects implemented by UNDP in Tajikistan has been about 15 million US dollars since 2014. Currently, five projects are being implemented in Tajikistan aimed at solving socio-economic problems and climate issues.
Mr. Igor Lyakin-Frolov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan, Dr. Pratibha Mehta, Resident Representative of the UNDP Tajikistan, and Mr. Muhiddinzoda Kutbiddin Fozildin, Head of the Department of Preschool and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan attended the opening ceremony.
