Project Information: Support to Sustainable Transport Management in Dushanbe

June 24, 2013

Since the early 2000s, the capital city of Dushanbe has experienced a rapid expansion in the use of private motor vehicles, along with a deterioration of public transport caused by rising personal incomes, a growing migrant population, a liberal trade policy and a neglected public transit system.
The project aims to reduce local and GHG emissions while improving access to and the quality of public transport services for all residents of Dushanbe. It is expected that upon project completion, the share of sustainable public transport modes will increase from the current 8% to 28% leading to significant reduction in GHG emissions from the city’s transport sector.
