The Republic of Tajikistan acceded to the UN Framework Convention in Climate Change in 1998 and ratified the Kyoto Protocol on the 21st of October, 2008. In accordance with the UNFCCC commitments, the Republic of Tajikistan prepared its First National Communication (FNC) on climate change and Phase 2 of the FNC on capacity building in priority areas of economy in 2001-2001, and developed the National Action Plan for climate change mitigation, being a strategic document of the country on climate change issues.
The Second National Communication of the Republic of Tajikistan under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change summarizes the up-to-date information on climate change issues in Tajikistan, the process of UNFCCC implementation, and presents the general and specific data on climate change.
