A high-level delegation of the government of Tajikistan recently visited Uzbekistan from 14-17 February 2022, facilitated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), under its “Accelerating Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery through Improved Livelihood, Employability, and Regional Cooperation in Ferghana Valley” project, funded by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The objective of the visit was to learn the best practices in Uzbekistan on employment and vocational skills for a vulnerable population, youth and women and emulate that in Tajikistan. The 15 representatives from government agencies, Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Agency on Employment, Migration Agency and other institutions were the members of the delegation.
During the visit, the delegation learned about the modern digital tools used by the government of Uzbekistan and other agencies to improve the vocational skills for the migrant youth and women and other marginalized people,
Four Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on vocational education, labour migration, digitalization of labour relations and supervision in the field of labour relations were signed. It is expected that countries will start implementing the MoUs soon.
