The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) under the support of the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan (UNDP) is conducting a Socio-Economic Impact Assessment Study of the COVID-19 pandemic on the small and medium-sized businesses.
The submitted report is a result of the 1st stage of this study which is based on a survey of small and medium-sized enterprises on the impact of the pandemic on their activities and preventive measures introduced by the government in the second quarter of this year. The report considers the most significant factors that influenced small and medium-sized businesses, such as reduced demand for goods and services of enterprises; blocking of sales channels / access to sales markets; difficulties related to financing and delays in the execution of obligations (deliveries, payments), etc. The Report also provides an assessment of Covid-19 response measures taken by the government to support businesses, which were effective to various extends. A final note contains the necessary recommendations and supporting measures for small and medium-sized businesses, identified on the basis of the survey.
