The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) covers all aspects concerning water, the environment, and agriculture within the Kingdom.

MEWA's main objectives consist of several diverse goals. These goals ensure that the Kingdom is a leading example in environmental and water management-related matters. While proving itself to be a steward, that will build a self-sufficient organization that aids in the Kingdom water initiative. These objectives consist of:

-  Preserving the environment and natural resources and sustainably developing them.

-  Achieving water and food security for future generations

-  Monitoring additional water supplies and potential uses, such as rainfall.

-  Providing high-quality, sustainable services and products; and

-  To activate the role of the private sector, research centers, and non-profit organizations.

MEWA's vision is to achieve a sustainable environment of natural resources and improve the quality of life throughout the Kingdom.

The UNDP has vast experience in water management and support-building systems; for this reason, 2018 saw a collaborative partnership between MEWA and the UNDP. The UNDP's international experience has proven instrumental in this partnership, ranging from technical support, project planning, research and analysis, public relations, and project execution.

Supporting the Kingdoms Vision 2030 of improving life for all citizens and residents is a top priority. To aid and support the vision, the UNDP was assigned several goals. These goals included:

-  Update the national water strategy that assesses potential resources and natural water cycles.

-  Include and approved water law regulations as a policy that legislates national rules and regulations for water extraction and usage.

-  Offer a supply and demand model up to the year 2050. That promotes food and water security for the future.

-  To strengthen and optimize water supply management's technical and organizational capacity in the Kingdom.

The Kingdom has undertaken enormous efforts to save and protect water as one of its most precious resources. In cooperation with MEWA, the UNDP set up a series of strategic programs to support the Ministry in achieving its target and various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UNDP also shares a common interest in relevant SDGs that have evolved globally.

These shared goals range from clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, and life below water and land.

Together with the UNDP surveys data, research, and expertise; MEWA has a vast array of effects that echo throughout the Kingdom on several levels. Ranging from policy adaptations and amendments on a national legal status to the economic contribution, social attributions, and gains in innovative technology and environmental impacts, all combined bring the Kingdoms 2030 vision closer to its goals.
