In continuation of its 3-day Country Office Retreat, UNDP Liberia conducted an interactive forum with the Student population and faculty of the Lofa Community College, Voinjama Multilateral High School and the Free Pentecostal College.
UNDP Staff used the forum to sensitize and educate this sector of the community in Voinjama, Lofa County, on the comparative advantages of the Agency.
Designated staff including the Deputy Country Director for Program, Pillar, Project and Program Managers, explained to the student population, the interventions of UNDP in the areas of governance, climate change, private sector development, volunteerism, gender, policy and capacity development and the linkages to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) within the concept of “Leaving No One Behind”.
The forum generated an intense participatory role of the student population.
UNDP Resident Representative Dr. Pa Lamin Beyai urged the students to cultivate the virtues and attributes of hard work, integrity, accountability, mutual respect and professionalism in their educational sojourn.
“I see in all of you future Kofi Anan, Guterres, Resident Representatives and other pace setters. However, this requires hard work and integrity which is the last bus stop that makes life more meaningful and knows neither, age nor position,”Dr. Beyai emphasized.
Earlier, the Presidents of the Lofa Community College and the Free Pentecostal College acknowledged the key role UNDP continues to play in Liberia’s development agenda.
Drs. Samuel Ngaima and Joseph Glenn both appealed to UNDP for logistical and technical support to their institutions.
At the end of the forum, UNDP turned over assorted stationery and instructional supplies to the Lofa County Community College.
