Civic Empowerment Programme (CEP)
More than a decade of Syrian crisis put the national civil sector at the front line to respond to ever expanding pool of people and communities in need UN agencies and INGOs channelled humanitarian funding and projects through national NGOs and Faith Based Organizations, capitalizing on the CSO’s collaborative advantages of outreach to and legitimacy at the local communities, the legacy and implementation capacity on the ground. All of which stretched the capacity of Syrian civil organizations and required parallel capacity development efforts. Thus, UNDP Syria launched CEP (Civic Empowerment Program) based on a strategy with three interlinked levels: i) skills and knowledge of civic staff, management and volunteers, ii) Institutional capacity; and iii) Enabling Civic Environment.
Through its varied and integrated activities, CEP aims to increase the effectiveness and sustainability of the civic sector and to contribute in achieving optimal cooperation and partnership between its associations.
