Ten Moldovan schools will be equipped with high-performance equipment to study the professions of the future
December 7, 2022
Ten schools in the center and north of the Republic of Moldova will be equipped with 45 laptops and 45 computers thanks to a donation worth approx. €80,000, made by the Government of Romania through RoAID – Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation, in the framework of a programme implemented by UNDP Moldova.
The modern equipment will be used by over 6,800 students to study the professions of the future – web and mobile application development, graphic design, programming, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship etc.
“We are happy to have contributed financially to such a project, for the direct benefit of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, namely the students and teachers of the 10 selected schools. We can say that Romania has made a tradition of supporting the education system in the Republic of Moldova and I would not only point to the 1200 renovated kindergartens, 196 school minibuses, distributed throughout the country, but also the complete construction of a new building at the ‘Mihai Eminescu’ high school from Comrat, that teaches in Romanian. Romania remains the closest partner of the Republic of Moldova, engaged in an extensive process of reforms aimed at accelerating its journey towards joining the European Union, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens, restoring their dignity, by connecting to the values and moral principles underlying the European construction,” said Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, the Government of Romania and the Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation joined the “Tekwill in Every School” programme and the “Digital Labs” initiative, which imply renovated spaces of at least 50 square meters, equipped with electronic devices and furniture necessary for interactive studies. In dedicated spaces, students can take IT courses or use the computers to do their homework or develop practical skills if they do not have an electronic device at home.
UNDP Moldova supports the initiatives of “Tekwill in Every School” through the “Accelerating digital transformation in the public sector of the Republic of Moldova" programme. Other partners supporting “Tekwill in Every School” programme are Sweden, the European Union, and USAID.
