UNDP, in partnership with Thailand’s Department of Rights and Liberties Protection of the Ministry of Justice, produced a Thai translation of the "Standards of Conduct for Business: Tackling Discrimination against LGBTI People", developed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). This publication serves as a crucial asset for the corporate landscape, offering extensive guidance in fostering workplace inclusivity and addressing discrimination against the LGBTI community.
The document is structured around five key pillars:
- Respect Human Rights: Encourages businesses to respect the human rights of LGBTI individuals within their sphere of influence.
- Eliminate Discrimination: Advocates for the elimination of workplace discrimination against LGBTI employees and stakeholders.
- Support LGBTI Communities: Promotes the active support and engagement of businesses with LGBTI communities.
- Prevent Other Human Rights Violations: Encourages businesses to prevent other human rights violations that may affect LGBTI people.
- Act in the Public Sphere: Encourages businesses to act in the public sphere to promote equality and combat discrimination.
This Thai translation of the Standards of Conduct for Business is an essential tool for businesses and organizations in Thailand seeking to foster an inclusive and non-discriminatory work environment. It aligns with Thailand’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights as well as UNDP's commitment to advancing human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion in the business sector.
