Dushanbe, 25 December – During a year-end meeting with Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan (MFA), UNDP received high recognition for its outstanding contributions to the country’s development in 2023.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin expressed deep appreciation for UNDP’s pivotal role, commending the organization for exceptional work in key areas. 

-The Minister highlighted the UNDP support for the preparatory work for the UN Water Conference in New York;  

-The participation of Tajikistan in the COP28 in Dubai; 

-UNDP’s support in developing Tajikistan’s green economy was acknowledged with appreciation, underscoring the importance of these efforts;

- The Minister recognized also UNDP’s significant role in supporting Tajikistan’s UN Voluntary National Review of the SDGs in July 2023;

- Lastly, the Minister expressed positive sentiments no UNDP’s efforts to continue, with USAID’s support, its crucial work in fighting violence against women and girls after the successful conclusion of the EU-funded Spotlight Initiative.

In response, UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan, Lenni Montiel, expressed gratitude for the Government's acknowledgment. He emphasized UNDP's unwavering commitment to assisting Tajikistan in achieving sustainable development goals.

“UNDP expresses appreciation to the entire MFA team for their steadfast support in 2023," said Lenni Montiel, UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to support and collaborate with the Government and people of Tajikistan, advancing the 2030 Agenda.”
