January 10, 2024
Transparency International-Moldova and UNDP announce the registration of participants from both sides of the Nistru River for the "Nistru TruthBridge" hackathon - the place to create and develop digital tools to prevent and combat disinformation and hate speech. The hackathon is being held with the support of the project "Building sustainable and inclusive peace, strengthening trust and social cohesion in Moldova", funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund, implemented by OHCHR, UNDP and UN Women.
The event will take place on 26-27 January 2024 and is aimed at programmers, designers, communication experts, journalists and cybersecurity specialists from both sides of the Nistru River.
Those wishing to participate in the hackathon should fill in the registration form by 22 January 2024, 18.00.
For 24 hours, participants will work, test and experiment, turning their innovative solution concepts into working prototypes, assisted by mentors from the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Georgia, online data visualization professionals, media experts and analysts in the field of preventing and combating disinformation, IT and application development specialists, etc.
Participants will also be guided on how to present their project ideas in a creative and convincing way and attract the attention of the audience, increasing the chances of getting support. The prototypes will be evaluated by a jury of representatives from the organizers and development partners.
The implementation of the three most innovative prototypes will be financially supported. Grants of around US$5500 each will be awarded in two installments: half at the start of the project, the second - after the solution has been developed.
The winning teams will be consulted and guided by Transparency International-Moldova and UNDP. The final projects will benefit users of social networks, journalists, fact-checking networks, etc.
