Unlocking Innovations in Judicial Systems
Judicial Knowledge Exchange
In 2023, the Thai Court of Justice, in collaboration with the Thailand Institute of Justice, Lukkid Group, and UNDP, introduced the pioneering Justice by Design initiative. This groundbreaking project utilized design thinking and people-centered justice methodologies to reimagine judicial services, prioritizing user-friendliness, efficiency, and inclusivity for all citizens. Recognizing its potential for broader impact, the organizers propose the Unlocking Innovations in Judicial Systems activity in Bangkok on 20 March 2024 to disseminate this experience and empower other nations to adopt and implement design thinking in their judicial systems. With generous support from the U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the event aims to equip judges from the ASEAN region with tools and strategies to foster a more responsive, accessible, and user-friendly justice system while promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity.
Objectives
Sharing Best Practices: Facilitate exchanges of experiences and lessons learned from Justice by Design, including challenges overcome and solutions developed.
Knowledge Transfer: Equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of design thinking and people-centered justice principles and their application in the judicial context.
Capacity Building: Provide hands-on training sessions on key design thinking tools and techniques for immediate application in participants' home countries.
Promoting Collaboration: Foster networking opportunities and build a regional community of practice focused on design thinking for judicial reform.
