Supporting the Ministry of Justice in Scanning and Digitizing the Civil Registry Books in Guinea-Bissau

Introduction

Main Objectives

The main objective of this project is to enable the Government of Guinea-Bissau (GoGB) to ensure that its citizens have access to identity documentation, allowing them to fully exercise their citizenship rights in Guinea-Bissau. Through this initiative, UNDP seeks to support the Government of Guinea Bissau in creating a robust identity documentation system, promoting inclusive citizenship and fostering social development in the country.
- Contributing to the right to identity
- Support the Government of Guinea-Bissau to enable its citizens to have access to identity.
- Improve the registration system, ensuring the progressive integration of various identification systems;
- Create more transparent and reliable data systems for the state and for the identification of its citizens.

 

Impact

- Support for setting up and equipping a digitization center
- Organization and recovery of civil registry books
- Development of a complete software/system for digitizing the civil registry, covering births, deaths, marriages and annotations, which will serve as the main platform for the digitization initiative throughout the country.
