Objectives

This action brought together children with disabilities from both communities for joint activities, titled, Angels of Peace. The Technical Committee identified and established contact with a total of 20 civil society organizations working with children with disabilities in both communities in order to ensure wide participation.

Results

Approximately 40 children and youth with autism and down syndrome from both communities performed modern and folk dance together and participated in drawing activities. Approximately 20 civil society representatives from both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities participated in the event. The event also gave opportunities for civil society to exchange information and discuss common issues of concern as part of efforts to ensure that sustainable development is inclusive.

Wide media coverage enhanced the visibility of the Technical Committee on Humanitarian Affairs and its role in facilitating greater interaction and understanding between the two communities.
