Technical Committee on Education

Pilot Production of Educational Materials

Objectives

This action looked to:

  • create new educational material (30 model lesson plans)

  • encourage teachers to share high-quality lesson plans they have already created.

The production of new educational material on a pilot basis was extremely important since it was the first-time quality such educational materials were gathered. Select education specialists developed new educational materials, based on principles of the Council of Europe and UNESCO—that promote peacebuilding, intercultural dialogue, human rights education, and anti-racist education in both communities. The materials consist of a total of 10 modules with 30 lesson plans (three lesson plans in each module) covering the following subjects:

  • Life Sciences
  • Health Education
  • Social Sciences
  • Languages
  • History
  • Environment
  • Geography
  • Music

Following their preparation, the education materials were sent to the Technical Committee co-chairs for quality control and approval. Nonetheless, due to terminology concerns and awaiting of lesson plans approvals from stakeholders during implementation, the activity has only been partially completed. At current these materials are awaiting review and can be used in educational curricula in both communities thereafter.
