May 22, 2024 The Central Asian University for Environmental Studies and Climate Change (Green University) in Tashkent is holding an event dedicated to International Biodiversity Day. The event is organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan as part of the of the joint project ‘Global Biodiversity Framework Early Action Support’.

On 19 December 2022, an Agreement was reached by 190 countries on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). This historic framework sets out an ambitious pathway to reach the global vision of a world living in harmony with nature by 2050. It provides a good foundation for global action on biodiversity, complementing the Paris Agreement for Climate, paving the way towards a climate-neutral, nature-positive, and resilient world by 2050.

The event is organized under the slogan ‘Be part of the Plan’ and aims to raise awareness among young people about the importance of biodiversity, its role and the need for conservation.

The participants of this event, including school students were familiarized with the activities of the Central Asian University for Environmental Studies and Climate Change (Green University). 

The event included a competition among artists and the winners were awarded valuable gifts.
