Selected best proposals within the public call for financing projects of civil society organizations aimed at improving the protection of women from violence committed with firearms

Belgrade, 23.7.2024 - Thanks to the United Nations’ Western Balkans SALW Control Roadmap Multi – Partner Trust Fund, projects of 4 civil society organizations have been selected for support in the total amount of nearly 100 000 USD to improve community safety, by enhancing the protection of women from firearms-enabled violence.

The proposals were received based on a public call for financing projects of civil society organizations aimed at improving the safety of the community and society as a whole, by increasing the security and enhancing protection of women whose family members have access to firearms.

A total of 12 project proposals were received under the call, open from 20 May 2024 to 30 June 2024. In accordance with the UNDP guidelines for low value grants, after the comprehensive review of all received project proposals by the Grant Selection Committee, proposals of the following 4 organizations were recommended to be awarded with a grant:

This activity is part of the project „Reduce Risk – Increase Safety III“, implemented by UNDP to reduce the risk of firearms misuse for domestic violence and suicide and enhance community response to firearms - related crises and trauma. The project is implemented with the financial support provided by Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and Norway, as well as with the overall support by the European Union, through the United Nations’ Western Balkans SALW Control Roadmap Multi – Partner Trust Fund.
