The year 2023 posed significant global challenges. Conflicts escalated worldwide to levels unseen in
decades, resulting in devastating casualties and unprecedented migration. 

Climate change and environmental degradation exacerbated these conflicts, making 2023 the warmest year on record.

In Egypt, these global issues have had a substantial impact. Regional instability and economic slowdowns
have adversely affected tourism and foreign investment, critical components of Egypt’s economy.

Despite these challenges, Egypt continues to strive for stability and growth amid a complex international
landscape while achieving substantial developmental gains.

At UNDP, our primary focus has been supporting the Government of Egypt in advancing social and economic resilience for vulnerable communities.
