Within the “Villages of Tomorrow” project, more than 300 women, children, and youth received digital and technological skills training in the summer

Through their “Villages of Tomorrow” initiative, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Trendyol contributed to preparing women, children, and youth for the future through comprehensive training programs in the villages of Kürkçüler in Adana and Ulamış in Izmir during the summer.

Over 300 participants had the opportunity to equip with digital skills that could open doors to new livelihoods through training on various fields including design, branding, product development, robotics and coding.

Women producers had a chance to participate in workshops on product development and training sessions on photography, design and branding that will provide future economic benefits. Training organized for children and youth on using 3D printers, robotics, and coding brought the opportunities offered by digital tools to these villages.

The center in Adana-Kürkçüler was established in local partnership with the Sarıçam Municipality, while the center in Izmir-Ulamış was inagurated in partnership with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. In these digital centers, producers in the villages gain knowledge and experience in smart agriculture applications, value-added product development, and e-commerce, while children and youth acquire important skills in the field of technology.

By the end of 2028, a total of 10 digital centers will be established in villages across Türkiye with an aim to reach over 1 million people in total. Following Adana and Izmir, new centers will be opened in the selected villages of Sakarya and Diyarbakır, as well as the Hatay province, which was hard-hit by the 2023 earthquakes.
