Today, the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, the EU Ambassador in Kosovo, Aivo Orav, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, the UNDP Resident Representative, Nuno Queirós and other guests, visited the Janjevë/Janjevo Fair.

The fair aimed to celebrate the village's cultural identity by providing a platform for local artisans and producers to showcase their work. With around 30 participants, the event featured crafts, artisanal products, local cuisine, and dairy produce, welcoming entrepreneurs, and startups. The event sought to highlight Janjevë/Janjevo's unique crafts and culinary traditions, support local economic development, and strengthen community ties, and pride in local culture.

After officially unveiling one of the many houses which have been rehabilitated and renovated, and observing ongoing restoration of additional houses as well as other infrastructure works, the guests met with Janjevë/Janjevo inhabitants.  

While visiting Janjevë/Janjevo, Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, had an opportunity to witness the progress made, engage with the local community and see the beautification of old houses renovated for touristic purposes. On this occasion, the Prime Minister stated:
“Investing in these houses is an investment in the future, as well as in the entrepreneurial skills of the creative people before us. All of this happens when we come together with our international partners.”
The EU Ambassador in Kosovo, Aivo Orav, said that this EU-supported project is designed to empower local initiatives, foster economic growth, and preserve the cultural identity that makes Janjevë/Janjevo so unique. "While we celebrate the progress we have made together, we also acknowledge that the journey ahead is equally important. Continued support for Janjevë/Janjevo is essential to transform it into a flourishing tourist destination," said Ambassador Orav.

UNDP Resident Representative, Nuno Queiros, reiterate the commitment of UNDP to empowerment of cultural diversity and its preservation:

“Today's fair is not merely an event, but a celebration of cultural richness and unity. It provides a platform for local artisans and producers to showcase their exceptional work and strengthens the bonds within the community.
I would like to congratulate all participants of the fair for your dedication and creativity. From artisanal crafts to delicious local foods, you are all showing the best of what this community has to offer.”

The Fair was organized as part of Cultural Heritage as a Driver for Economic Revival of Janjevё/Janjevo” project, financed by the European Union (EU) and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports (MCYS) aims to preserve, protect, and revive the shared tangible heritage while promoting awareness and ensuring its protection as well as expand socio-economic opportunities for its inhabitants.
