Climate Smart Agriculture - Illustrations of Practices and Technologies

October 23, 2024

Uganda’s economy and population largely depend on agriculture and natural resources including forestry and fisheries. However, climate change has had negative impact on agricultural production in the country.

While the government of Uganda has put in place measures to address the vulnerability of the agricultural sector, there is need to increase adoption and integration of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices and technologies into farming systems to respond to climate risks.

The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has been implementing a Project titled: “Enhancing Resilience of Agricultural Landscapes and Value chains in Eastern Uganda – Scaling up CSA Practices” to strengthen CSA interventions in tackling climate change.

This Illustrative Manual was produced as one of the project outputs to demonstrate the application of various CSA practices and technologies in primary schools in Uganda.

The manual illustrates selected CSA practices and technologies to support the establishment and management of school gardens. The illustrated CSA practices have been simplified so that pupils and teachers can easily understand and replicate them in their homes.
